ABOUT THE PROJECT
The owners of this home loved the layout and its location but the house was in need of a full gut renovation. Built in the 1930’s, it had an addition in the 70’s that left the exterior looking flat and in need of some aesthetic appeal.
OUR SOLUTION
A new gable on one side of the house balanced the front facade and a curved roof detail added unique, artistic interest. An entry was enclosed below one of the upstairs bedrooms adding additional space to the interior and creating a NE entrance for the front door. Yellow cedar siding was replaced with a soft green Hardie board, a fire-resistant, durable, sand and cement siding that requires minimal maintenance.
The walkway leading up the house was steep, narrow and uneven. Two larger walkways were added to access the front door and backyard. In addition, extensive retaining walls created new garden beds and enlarged the driveway.
The old, pressure treated wood deck was replaced with mahogany decking and cable rail by Feeney. In addition, a balcony was added off the master bedroom.
