ABOUT THE PROJECT

Newly married and first time homeowners, this couple was looking to make their 1 bedroom Clinton Hill apartment their own.  The dated kitchen had previously been closed off with a partition wall and a building steam riser prevented them from making the most of the countertop space.  Lack of pantry space was also a major issue. In the bathroom, the cast iron bathtub was the only thing the owners wanted to keep, everything else had to go!

OUR SOLUTION

Removing the partition wall immediately opened up the kitchen, making it infinitely more useful.  Adding large floor to ceiling pantry cabinets solved the storage issue.  Glass doors, decorative lighting, built in trash cabinets and new appliances made this a kitchen they could enjoy on a daily basis.  Custom tops were fabricated to wrap around steam risers that could not be relocated adding precious countertop space.  A penny tile backsplash and cork floor made the previous space a quickly forgotten memory and gave a perfect touch of color and texture.  In the bathroom, the old cast iron tub was refinished for a fraction of the price of installing a new unit.  New wall and floor tile, vanity and accessories rejuvenated this space while keeping in the classic New York CIty style.
