ABOUT THE PROJECT
The owners wanted a space where their grandchildren could play and a home office.
OUR SOLUTION
Due to the lack of square footage in the existing house, as well as setback constraints enforced by the town, the only solution was to go up. The existing roof was removed completely and raised to create a full height 3rd story on this lakefront house. In addition, the ceilings were vaulted which provided a sense of openness. A 10′ double sliding door make the most of the lakefront views, structural collar ties were wrapped in red oak and a new open riser oak stair was installed off the main entrance. The front facade was reimagined with a large gable as well as a matching smaller one over the front door. The new space is perfect for visiting grandkids to spread out and play and provides a comfortable retreat for the owners to enjoy their views any given evening.
